To friends and family

Dear all

While the 'men' of the house sit ensconced in front of Dr Who, I thought I'd start this blog. Why? Well, I was showing a friend Sue how to set one up the other day, so that she could commune with friends far and wide, and she asked me the tricky question of why I'd set up a website instead... I thought about it for 2 seconds, said I dunno - I wish I'd set up a blog though. Just a passing thought that it would be much more easy to up date - I could even do it daily - and people could leave their thoughts on my musings; we could interact, communicate even! It wouldn't be so impersonal, it could be spontaneous - and it wouldn't feel like such a lonely business, being a slave to the laptop.

Then, after spending 2 days solid updating our personal website and getting very frustrated with Yahoo's free Geocities site closing down on me every hour, I decided to cut my losses and set up a blog anyway. So here it is, Stephie's narrative self. Why such a stupid sounding, if not pretentious, name? Simple, everything else I came up with was already taken. So I tried this one, which came from an installation I made a while ago - and it seemed appropriate enough - and more importantly I could have it! It's mine, all mine!

So people, friends and family far and wide, click on the 'comments' link below and leave me a message, let me know that you're out there! You can even leave a message for Paul or Kim. I've set Paul up as an editor so he might even reply to you in person - if you're lucky!
