I quit!
Well, that's it. I've formally handed in my notice to Level 2, the art group that I was a founding member of. We did a couple of good projects together, but the next one that some of the group want to work on will last two years. They plan to continue with the theme of the Wharf, where our studios were, and received a large sum of funding for a research project that encompasses an interactive website and an exhibition or two.
So why have I thrown in the towel? I'm just not interested in spending two years on something that doesn't excite me in the slightest. People are moving out of the wharves in any case, in preparation for the imminent redevelopment. I think this will be such a large project that it won't leave the group the manpower to do anything else while it's running. I've been told one of the other members may be leaving soon as well, and if she does the group will only have a core membership of four artists; add to that the limited time people have to devote to it and you can see that the project could be all consuming.
It's a shame, but there are other things going on that I want to focus on - curating an exhibition next year being one of them...
