Getting to know you

I've made these sketches over the last few days. Drawings like this are a way for me to really look at the subject and understand it before I go on and make 'proper drawings'! At this stage I think I need to understand it far more than I do at the moment... it's so hard not to make the owl look fluffy and cuddly even though it's dead as a dodo.
