Home

Finally home. We've been driving for seven hours, it's gone midnight and I should be going to bed, but hey...I missed you! We were welcomed home by our errant cat Lily; she came running down the garden path meowing her head off before I'd even got out of the car. She must've sensed that she was destined for the cattery, because two days before departure date she made a run for it. We searched high and low for her for hours and finally gave up after already having missed a train to Bristol on her behalf. To say I was surprised to see her this evening is a bit of an understatement. After two weeks away with no-one looking in on her I thought we'd be lucky to see her at all. I left her loads of dry food outside, in the hope that she might get to it before some of the other neighbourhood cats, any passing foxes or slugs, and sure enough it was all gone. But I'm not sure there was enough to satisfy her appetite for a whole two weeks; she looked as well fed as ever though so she's obviously been filling up somewhere...

Anyway, enough of the domesticities. In the whole two weeks away I only managed to get to one gallery: Kettle's Yard in Cambridge. It's probably the best contemporary art gallery in the whole of East Anglia and sure enough there was a good exhibition on by Arturo Herrera - lots of drawings and photographs (of drawings). If you're in the area it's definitely worth a look; there's also a corresponding exhibition on at the Ikon in Birmingham. Check out the Kettle's Yard website for details.

Well, it's def. time to turn in: the screen's beginning to look a little on the blurred side! I've also got a bit of reading to do before I finally close my eyes. I picked up The Stone Diaries by Carol Shields (at one of the many airports I passed through on my way back to the UK last Tuesday) and can't go to sleep without a good long dose! Night night.
