I woke up this morning...
and discovered I'd been taken over by an alien life form during the night; well, that's what it looks like!
Around 7 o'clock this morning I was slumbering peacefully then realised I had a compelling urge to scratch my side, which of course I had to satisfy. As I rather manically scratched away I discovered that my skin no longer felt normal. It was hot and 'lumpy'. I jumped out of bed (that's an exaggeration, I don't jump at 7am) and rushed (another exaggeration) to the bedroom mirror to discover this rather alarming rash that had sprung up on my torso as I slept. I showed Kim, who grimaced and said "urgh, that's horrible". I can always rely on him to tell the truth.
As the hours have ticked by this morning the rash has spread steadily to my arms and legs. Anxiously I phoned the gp, who said he wanted to see it. "Oooh, yes. That's quite severe", he said. He suggested there could be several reasons for it, including a food allergy (rare), sun, a reaction to a virus or a side effect of my new medication. He gave me some antihistamines to quell the itching and told me to go back in a couple of days if it hasn't gone by then. If it hasn't it'll mean changing the meds, again...
I hope you appreciate the picture of the lurgy; I was beginning to think that I'd been lacking pictorial opportunities for the blog lately and when I saw this one, well, carpe diem as they say! (Hope it doesn't put you off you lunch!)
