Wet Lizard

I've been down to the Lizard peninsular this afternoon to see an artists' led project 'Happidrome One'. There were three artists' works inside an old bunker and a couple outside. Little did I realise that I would have to walk through bog to get to them! I should have expected to get wet, after all it's been non stop rain here for months. Today was no exception: it was pouring. So I donned fetching blue wellies with red spots and went for a stomp. Here's some of what I saw:

In the bunker a man rides a bike to light up a sign (Lizzie Masterson)

Paul Ridout makes a grid

Alison Sharkey plays with camouflage

On the left she's covered a standing stone and on the right has made a fake one.

It was great to see so many people in the middle of nowhere in the pouring rain taking part in an art event. I had a fantastic time. I joined Steven Paige's Radio Club and went outside the bunker to listen to Marconi's morse code 's' and Dame Nellie Melba singing; I waded through mud to see Alison's 'purple penis' (it made me smile!); I watched someone cycle so hard they were panting in seconds to get Lizzie's lights to light up; I watched a video by Sara Bowler and I watched the reflections of Paul Ridout's grid in the puddles. Better than tv any day. It's extraordinary what people can do with virtually no money and a lot of dedication. I admire this kind of effort very much.

Best pull my finger out and get my own thing going...
