Playtime!

Twas a beautiful autumn day today and everything was shimmering with copper colours, including my hair - oh yes it is! I've been sitting here for a lot of the time, staring out of the window at the beech trees turning colour; they're still very green, but there are already leaves with flecks of yellow tinged with burnt orange, and I don't suppose it'll be long before they fall. I can see another tree, much smaller and rounder (I've got no idea what it's called) and the leaves on that are stunning, going from olive green to deep cherry red - not a bit of orange in sight. It's criss crossed with thin, dark, whippy twigs and I love the rustling it makes as the wind gently blows through it. The colours in the crown of the tree are intensified by the deep forest green of the yew that obscures part of it. I just want to go outside and kick leaves around - oooh the thought of the smell of it!

The only time I've been out today though was to collect Kim from school this afternoon. He decided he wanted to go to the park. I thought that as it was so mild and beautiful I'd sit around on a bench and enjoy the end of the day while he went off and built camps, or whatever it is nine year old boys do. Instead though, I decided I'd let the virago within me out of its cage and put it to use scaring the 7 year olds off the swings, so that I could have a go! I love the sensation of swinging and like to go as high as possible, which seemed to attract the attention of some other more inhibited women in the park! They were probably wondering why the hell I was acting like a 5 year old, but hey cartwheels last week, swings this week - they want to be careful what might happen next week... Maybe I'm regressing. Maybe I've just realised that you don't have to be under 10 to play - it's fuuuuuuun! Hands up who wants to come play with me!
