Attack of the big thing

Restless as usual I decided to go for a run earlier this evening, in the hope of getting rid of the restlessness (never works!). After about half an hour I was running along a road bordered by trees on both sides; it's like running through a green tunnel. There's been torrential rain again today (as usual) and the trees were dripping off the last vestiges. I was in a state of dogged concentration when I was knocked back into consciousness by what I thought was a branch falling from a tree, it landed smack bang on the top of my head (hurt!) and I instinctively ducked. Then I realised that I hadn't actually heard anything land... I looked around the ground - nothing. I looked up and there she was - a bloody great buzzard swooping above me!!! She started screeching her head off, went back to perch on a tree for a couple of seconds then made towards me again! I ran in fear of my life!!!! She saw me off and went back into the canopy.

Why would a buzzard go for my head like that I thought? I guess she had young somewhere near abouts, or she was strangely deluded into thinking that the back of my head (with my hair tied up and bouncing about) made me look like a red rabbit - or maybe a fox?! (But both too big for her tea, surely?) Then it occurred to me - perhaps she's been reading the blog! If she tries it on again, I told her, I'll send the cat up her tree to get her baby for my collection!
