The festivities begin
I went to Santa's Secret £10 Tombola in Redruth the other night, in festive mood, and as usual I was late. Being late this time meant I missed the draw and that all the pressies had been opened by the time I got there :( Still this didn't mean I missed all the festive fun...
It was fascinating to see what each artist had submitted for sale for the paltry price of ten pounds - and it was obvious the punters had got some amazing bargains! Some of the artists had submitted work that obviously cost more than £10.00 (the price of a ticket) in materials, others had rather obviously spent hours and hours making their work and probably earnt around twopence an hour. And of course none of this includes the value of artistic integrity that most of us probably threw in for free! But I won't bore you with all the details here because there's already a review and lots of pictures on the artcornwall site. There's a rather fuzzy picture of the piece Memory Field I submitted, which is in the 'Front Room' section in the bottom row on the far right. (Follow the link above.) Still, it's better than the photo I forgot to take!!
Finally, just a mention for one of my favourite pieces on show called 'He, He, He' by Marieclaire McCabe - I'm dead jealous of the lucky person that got that! You can see it on the Art Cornwall site - it's a Santa snow globe, only Santa's cut in half and it's mounted in a 'vitrine'. Very drole, and remarkably festive!
